A skin fade at Royal Barbers costs £22 and is the cut most of our regulars come in for. Your barber takes the sides and back down to bare skin at the bottom, then blends up through the guards into the length on top so there is no visible line. Done right, it looks clean from every angle, not just the mirror.

Not sure what to ask for? These are the fades we cut most. Bring a photo if you have one, your barber will tell you honestly what works with your hair and head shape.
Starts just above the ears and neckline. Subtle, smart and grows out gently.
Starts around the temples. The all rounder, sharp without being extreme.
Starts high on the sides for maximum contrast with the top. Bold and clean.
Curves down behind the ear towards the nape. Great with curls and afro tops.
Fades in a semicircle around the ear, keeping length at the back.
A softer, shorter fade at the temples and neckline only. Tidy and low key.
Fades for every hair type
A fade on straight hair and a fade on tight curls are two different jobs. Our barbers cut both every day: drop fades and tapers that keep afro and curly tops defined, crisp fades under French crops and textured crops, and hard parts or line ups if you want them. Clients regularly tell us we are the place in town for afro and curly hair.
How long does a skin fade last?
A skin fade looks its sharpest for around one to two weeks, as the skin section grows back first. Most of our regulars book in every two to three weeks to keep it crisp. If you want it to last longer between visits, ask for a low fade or a taper.
